Tip Number 1
Appetizer Crostini Toppings
  • Sliced grapes
  • Alfalfa sprouts
  • Cream cheese and ? Toasted nuts? Rolled pepperoni?
  • Chicken salad
  • Rolled smoked salmon
  • Guacamole and bacon
  • Mixture of pesto and cream cheese with ?
  • Mixture of tomato paste and cream cheese with ?

Focus on flavors and color. Have fun!

Tip Number 2
Make Ahead Mashed Potatoes

Make your mashed potatoes as you normally would, only the day or two before. Blend in some cream cheese, sour cream, salt, and cream. Put into a baking pan and brush top with melted butter. Refrigerate. Bake until completely heated before serving at 350 degrees. Twists to add: Garlic, blue cheese, parmesan cheese, frozen corn, onion, shallots. Have fun!

Tip Number 3
Cranberry Jezebel Sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar (more or less to taste)
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 (10 ounces) package fresh cranberries, picked over
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish, drained (more or less to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (more or less to taste)
Instructions

Bring water and sugars to a boil, stir until sugars are dissolved. Add the cranberries. Return to boil and cook for 10 minutes. Add the horseradish and mustard. Chill. Use as either a condiment, or spread over cream cheese as an appetizer.

Tip Number 4
Turkey tips
  • Bake first 2/3 of the total baking time upside down to keep the breast moist.
  • Make sure you own a good quality meat thermometer
  • Try brining your turkey to create a very moist turkey. See the Internet for thousands of ideas.
  • Stuff the turkey with aroma, not dressing. Examples: oranges, onions, handfuls of fresh herbs, apples.
  • Stuff the skin, not the cavity. Slip your hands under the skin starting at the cavity. Carefully separate the skin from the meat, then spoon your stuffing into the space; smooth and bake.
